Flashbacks to 80's Punk...

I have a confession- I am an old-school punk-rocker that still has a passion for head-banging and slam-dancing...my one broken rib, broken nose, and knee surgery are direct results of way too much fun.

I played in several bands, the Algebra Mothers, The Twisters, Phobelex, and the Sillies. I was the keyboardist ringleader in most cases, often having to play the parts of the band members that decided to pass out mid-concert from a typical night of substance abuse.

Twenty years later, I moved from Detroit City to Los Angeles, only to find all my friends from that area here in La La Land. It's been a great reunion, mixed with happiness and some tears along the way. Many of my old cronies didn't handle their addictions well and I heard about the deaths through the grapevine. Others are still struggling with their demons. And finally there are the handful of characters that have managed to find peace in their art and music and are truly evolving in positive directions...

"You say you got an image now...
A reason to be occupied.
No one left to look up to...
It's only you you idolize.

You say you want what you can't get...
Always after ghosts of love.
When no one cares, it turns you on.
Think maybe you're not everyone's heartthrob?

You wake up to a lonely room...
Bare walls glaring at your face.
Drink enough to pass the time...
Trying to hide what you can't erase.

Nighttime comes, you're on your own...
Solace is an empty town.
Drive around to pass the time...
You spend your life just waiting around."

"Sedation
Synthetic fun.
Devastation
We must die young.
Intoxication
Makes your blood run
Assassination
Aren't you having any
Fun?"

"By my side
Broken sighs
Look with me into
Broken tides.

Dreamless days
Mark a grave
Have to run in a
Hopeless daze.

But what a waste!
They all said.
Shit, I'd rather be electrocuted.
Things looking perverted
Looking decadent.
A physical wreck."

realcranky's songs and what the masses think about them.....

POPEYE DIED FOR YOUR SINS

Low, slow, wacky, and realcranky. This song seems to be a lament for all of the
cartoons that have fallen by the wayside thanks to the ever-constant onrush of new
cartoons. Sure, you might be happy with your Powder Puff girls, or whatever they're called, but where would they be without Popeye the Sailor Man? He was the spinach-eating
first, and you'd better not forget it. Sure, it was the same cartoon every time, but
when's the last time you diagrammed an episode of GI Joe? Does anyone even
remember GI Joe anymore?
